Manic Panic has been vegan and cruelty free since 1977. Manic Panic is the trailblazing beauty brand that started the vivid hair colour revolution in the USA over 4 decades ago.
The Manic Panic mission has been to share their rainbow vision of Peace, Love and Glamour throughout the universe while staying true to their core beliefs.
Charitable before it was lit, they would donate as much as possible every year (a minimum of 15% of our net profits) to various charities including BCRF, True Colors United and The World Wildlife Fund. #DyeForPeace
They never compromise. You can always expect the highest quality and integrity from anything that bears the Manic Panic name.
For 43 years, Manic Panic has been fiercely and independently women owned and operated by founders/sisters/singers/philanthropists Tish & Snooky Bellomo. #TishAndSnooky
From its glam, punk, and rock roots to its iconic position today in pop culture and fashion, the original Badass Beauty Brand invites everyone to unleash your inner rainbow, such as celebrities like Cyndi Lauper, Rihanna, Lady Gaga, Katy Perry, Cardi B, Kylie Jenner, and Kim Kardashian have rocked Manic Panic at some point in their careers.

Tested on celebrities, not animals™.
How to dye your hair using Manic Panic Hair Dye:
Manic Panic’s semi-permanent hair colour contains fortified herbal and protein complex and features no animal by-products. Their hair colour can be used to achieve vibrant colours on pre-lightened or light blonde hair. Dark colours such as red, purple, or green may be used to highlight naturally darker hair shades. It is always recommended you perform a strand test to see how the dye will look on you first.
Manic Panic hair dye does not damage hair and contains restorative properties, acting as a conditioner that hydrates and "fills” processed hair.
@Hairbyu, we recommend pre-lightening (bleaching) or having pre-lightened hair to a level 9, or higher, for a true colour tone when using Manic Panic. The darker/warmer shades of Manic work best on hair that has been lifted to a darker blonde shade.
When using the Creamtones®, an even level 10 platinum blonde is required for all pastel shades & shades you have created with the with Pastel-izer®. We also recommend an even level 10 platinum blonde on all the shades of grey such as Alien Grey, Amethyst Ashes, and Blue Steel.
When applying Manic Panic, it is as simple as just applying it straight from the jar (no mixing with peroxide is needed)
If pre-lightening is needed before applying manic, U can shop our professional ranges of powder lightener bleach & developers here!
Please remember to follow all instructions & again we recommend a skin patch test always when colouring with new products.
Check out the steps below on how to apply Manic Panic Hair Color:
TIP: we recommend using gloves and apply Vaseline around your hairline to avoid staining on the skin. If Manic does touch your skin, wipe straight away with our Hi Lift Colour Of Wipes
We also have available colouring kits which contain all you need to colour your hair at home like a professional. Shop Colour Kits.
We know it can be tricky to guess how much Manic you will need to colour your hair successfully. So, we have done up the below buying guide to help you shop:
Buying Guide:
How Long do Manic Panic Colors Last?
In General:
Classic High Voltage can last up to 6 weeks on pre-lightened blonde hair.
Creamtone and pastel shades (like Blue Style) typically last 2-3 weeks on platinum blonde hair.
Hot Tip: U can add a few drops of a deeper colour to your pastel to make them last a bit longer!
The way Manic Panic® Hair Color fades can vary as it is dependent on many factors such as hair porosity, how often you wash your hair, how you style your hair, are you outdoors a lot, etc. If your hair is bleached, for example, it will typically hold
colour longer than someone whose hair is unbleached. But if your hair is over-processed, it can mean your hair will have a harder time holding colour and tend to fade out quicker. It also depends on the products you use to maintain your colour!
As Manic Panic is a vibrant colour, we recommend maintaining your colour by washing with a sulphate-free colour safe shampoo & conditioner, using cool water as much as possible. The more often you wash, the faster the colour will fade out.
If you use heat styling tools to style your hair, this will also contribute to colour fadge. We recommend styling products that are alcohol free & have a heat protectant within.
Applying a treatment or mask once a week is also important to help with porosity of your hair & prevent colour fadge. Especially if you pre lightened your hair before applying Manic.
Here are a few of our favourite products that work well in protecting coloured hair:
As Manic is a high fashion colour and is used to have some fun with your locks, it may be of concern on how to remove Manic Panic Hair Colour from your hair?
If you have the time, we recommend letting the colour fade or use your clarifying shampoo purchased to use before applying Manic. Clarifying shampoos are designed to open the hair cuticle & remove build up & residue. Therefore, helping Manic to fade quicker.
However, if you want to remove the colour all together you will need to use a professional colour-remover product such as Hi Lift Professional Direct Dye Remover or Zalon Pro London Colour Remover Kit.
It’s now time to have fun with over the 40+ shades of Manic Panic, you can mix & create your own fun & funky fresh look for your locks. Here’s some pics of looks that can be achieved with Manic.
